Looks pretty good! Missing an SSD, but other than that it's perfect.

It was within his SGD $1250.00 budget (inclusive of win 8.1)

Pretty decent for his first build. Just to clarify, has he built this or is he going to build it?

A Barracuda or WD Blue should be cheaper even where you are, other than that it's got my thumbs up.

If ones not going for an SSD as a first boot drive then the WD Black drive he's chosen is a smart idea. ;)

what about an ssd besides that seems like a good build

+1

Maybe like a cheap 120GB SSD as the boot drive and the hard disk for games or whatever he does. If you could find a non-Refresh i5, it might be cheaper and you'd be able to squeeze an SSD into there.

Spot on (Bar the SSD missing)

Very very close to my Main system performance wise.

Aint no slouch.

SSD for Windows (120GB) and then mechanical HDD for Storage/Games would be best until you save more for a bigger storage system. If moneys allows.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

I watched as he put the parts in so yes he built it already, he choose the black because I explained to him WD's drives and asked him to watch the Linus teck tips before buying the stuff

Wouldn't get WD black, they are loud as shit and pretty expensive. Could probably get a nice small SSD for OS and get a WD blue/seagate barracuda for that money.
