Triple 1080p gaming graphics requirements

Hey LTT community!

I've recently been playing around with the idea of a triple surround gaming system but I'm not sure about how much power I would need to run demanding games (eg. BF4) at Ultra settings with lots of eye candy turned on.

Also if you could point me towards some relatively cheap monitors that would be cool too but It doesn't matter if you don't.

Thanks.

your easily looking at two 290x's or two 980's if your wanting to ultra out BF4 and other such games. As for monitors stick to IPS :)

Isn't that a little bit overkill O.o

Erm... The 780 is capable of running BF4 on ultra a 1.5x supersampling res on 1080p.

only times I drop below 60 is when I run into events that would cripple anything... such as multiple simultaneous explosions, particle effects, and fire.

Is that on one 1080p or what?

super-sampled, yeah, a single 1080p with a secondary non-gaming oriented monitor (usually running battlescreen)

if you turn off supersampling, however, I have no problem powering 3x 1080p's. Personally, I don't run them too often, but I have tested it in the past.

OP said 3 screens so i assumed 5760x1080p resolution. Hence the two cards will be needed.

Needed? No.

Beneficial? Yes.

as somebody who runs two 290x's in eyefinity I can tell you to run BF4 on ultra with "all the eye candy aka... AA on full" you will need two or more cards. Thats if you dont hit the VRAM limit.

Single GPU I know its a thing, but in Crossfire does he need an active display port adapter cable to get his 3rd monitor working...or can he just use the 2nd cards output for the 'third clock' generator?

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz
