Posted November 7, 2014 Hey guys, so I'm going to house sit for my sister this week end, and I want to bring my PC because she has surround sound and a 70" 4K Sony TV(I'm excited). Anyway, aside from removing my GPU and driving carefully, is there anything more that I should know about driving with my PC? Posted November 7, 2014 1. Strapping it to the roof is, usually, not a good idea. 2. Dragging it behind your car is, also, not a good idea. 3. Throwing it in your car can have negative impacts. 4. The mounts for your 212 EVO may or may not withstand heavy punishment, so you may opt to be careful there 5. Make sure it doesn't fall. 6.??? 7. Posted November 7, 2014 Just lay it down in your trunk and drive carefully. You don't need to do anything special like taking out your GPU. Posted November 7, 2014 I'd remove the GPU, especially if it's not a particularly rigid one. . Link to comment https://linustechtips.com/topic/246525-transporting-my-pc/#findComment-3383933 Share on other sites
Posted November 7, 2014 It should be fine, you can wrap it in bubble wrap yeah but if you put it on the back seat and not a metal panel, make sure it doesn't shift around and doesn't fall off the bench, it should be perfectly fine. I've transported PC's that way and it'll be fine, as long as you don't wrap the car around a tree that is. Slide the passenger seat all the way back to clamp it in (you may have to tilt the backrest a bit). 317 is watching. 317 is everywhere. 317 is life. Posted November 8, 2014 When going by car I normally just put my pc in the trunk (laying it on the back side panel) and made sure not to drive quickly over bumps. I would drive between my parents house and take my pc with me every week and I never had any problems with it in the trunk. Posted November 8, 2014 Use all the bubble wrap. Yea I would be to busy popping bubbles instead of packing up the computer  However is the best option. With Graphics Cards and tower CPU Coolers an idea is to use kitchen roll tubes to prop them up but as you will be removing the GPU Just make sure that you use an antistatic bag to keep it in. Posted November 9, 2014 Do people actually take out components when they transport their computers? I've always hucked my computer in the back seat or trunk, and drove around normally. I never had any problems with my computers. Link to comment https://linustechtips.com/topic/246525-transporting-my-pc/#findComment-3390980 Share on other sites
