Good 140mm fans?

BloodWithIce

I need some nice 140mm fans (3 of them) for my rig.
They need to be silent and not ugly.
(they must be white or black)

From that site.
Don't care about price or rpm since they are hooked up to a fan controller.
Thanks :)

In my opinion, the BeQuiet! Silent Wings seem to suit your needs. They are very quiet, even on full speed. The more budget version would be the BitFenix Spectre.

I have heard some good things about the Aerocool DS, as well as Fractal Design.

If you want some more power on full speed the Noctua Industrial PCCs are very quiet at low speed and move a lot of air, but I don't knwo how how well they work with fan controllers, since they are somewhat powerhungry and PWM controlled.

The noctua A14 industrial's are pretty much the best 140mm around. Not the quietest though.

Phanteks fans are decent, and won't cost you your soul like Noctua industrial fans

I've heard some good things about Cryorig XF140s, but they're a fairly new company so I'm not 100% sure on recommending them, especially since I'm about to make a post asking about them

CPU: Intel Core i7-4770k | Mobo: MSI Mpower Max | Cooling: Cryorig R1 Ultimate w/ XT140 front Fan | GPU: EVGA GTX 770 Dual SC SLI | Case: NZXT H440 | Case Fans: Phanteks PH-140SP x5 | PSU: EVGA Supernova P2 1000W | RAM: 16GB Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer | SSD: Kingston HyperX 3k 120GB | HDD: Seagate Barracude

Keyboard: Razer Blackwidow Ultimate 2013 | Mouse: Razer Deathadder 2013 | Headphones: Sennheiser HD438s | Mousepad: Razer Goliathus Control | Monitor 1: Benq XL2430T | Monitor 2: BenQ RL2455HM

I have 5 BeQuiet! Shadow wings 140mm running and depending on how high you turn them up they can go from "i can not hear them at all bu i see them working" to "i can hear them because they produce that much air" but the noise they are making is very nice, other than some other fans like following:

Prolimatech red vortex 140

Aerocool sharkfan 140

Nzxt oem 140

And others.

I also want to mention nanoxias fans wich are incredibly quiet but happen to be green. The included cooltek 140s are good too but i didn't use them at all.

Thats all from my experience with 140s

                                                                                      wow... pretty empty here...

  • 2 weeks later...

Has anyone here had the occasion to hear both the Nanoxia DS and Fractal Design SSR2 fans?

I'm contemplating between their ATX cases, which I want to fill to the brim with 140mm fans, and knowing which fans are better will likely swing my decision.

Edit: Sorry, just noticed that OP only wants black/white fans, so my question isn't strictly relevant.

Bequiet silent wings 2, shadow wings, pure wings 2. All good, all 140 mm.

Aerocool's Dead Silent fans are okay. They have better static pressure and a tad more performance but they have had too many vibrations that were transfered to the case.

Fractal Design's fans are terrible. They develop a bad bearing clicking noise over time.

I have had all of the above and can truly recommend  Aerocools with some limitations and bequiets.

who cares...
