how do I get Android 5.0?

in my latest round of Android n00bery... how do I get the update?  I see a billion headlines of "Android 5.0 released", even bugs reported on the nexus 5... but when ever I check for software updates on my phones it keeps saying everything is up to date with 4.4.4

You get it by waiting.

You can get it from the developer Android site and flash it onto your phone yourself. If you don't want to do that, You wait until Google release the consumer version for everyone else to use.

Depending on what phone you have, you may or may not get the Android 5.0 update.

 

 

What phone do you have? Only the Nexus devices got it...

 

 

I have a nexus 5 (which i did say in my OP)

If you have a recent Nexus device it should arrive on the 12th.

You edited your post after I posted mine. I clearly remember seeing no mention of a phone in your OP  ;). Right now Google hasn't posted any factory image of Android 5.0 for the Nexus 5, so you'll have to wait.

sorry, didn't mean it to sound as passive aggressive as it did, but I didn't edit the post, it was in there from the beginning

To the best of my knowledge it was partially rolled out then delayed a week.
