GTX 980's = less heat, less power draw, less exotic cooling required, more GPU power by a significant margin, less risk of damaging other components due to fluid leak

I have hit a bit of a dilemma with my GPU choice for my new rig, i want 980 SLi but have just found the 295x2 cheaper than any pairing of 980's in SLi, and it's not a small difference, but i do not want to really be on a power sucking pair of GPU's, i remember the days of Fermi...

single 980 will be enough for 1440p

then add a second one next year when they drop in price

2 980's will destroy the 295x2. AND it won't turn your computer into a space heater.

how about 2 970's in sli ? that will wreck that 980 and be the same price.. and it will be more than enough for that 1440p monitor
