Is there anywhere I can purchase a GTX 970 with the reference cooler like the 780 and titan have? I like the premium aesthetics of it and the green LEDs match my setup. If not, what card would you recommend for the coolest and quietest performance?

Wishing leads to ambition and ambition leads to motivation and motivation leads to me building an illegal rocket ship in my backyard.

wrong Asus strix 970 got problems with coil whine SO NO.

Both are semi passive.

Where did you hear that? From a couple posts on the internet?

Do you know how many thousands of people have bought that card and had no issues? lol

And yes it is quieter. The strix fan profile stays at 0db until 65C. MSI's fan profile starts going at 50C, which is a big difference.

I think it just came to market very recently. The 970 released without a reference version available, as far as I know.

I don't think I would personally want a reference version, but I don't have much trouble recommending one. The GTX 970 isn't a particularly hot card, and the Nvidia reference cooler isn't terrible. If you've already got a reference-cooled GTX 780 and GTX Titan, it will certainly run cooler than those.

Now can we do this again but with a 970?

Nope OP is too late for that. The reference cooler designs for the 970 are no longer available unless you find some place with overstock (which I doubt) or you buy used from ebay.

But 780ti and 980 are still available with the reference cooler like I showed.

There are no reference titan style coolers for the 970, only 600 series reference coolers for it, which aren't as nice looking really.

The best cooler for it though would be the MSI gaming twin frozr V. It's a semi passive cooler like the strix, but is actually lower, taking up slightly less than a dual slot cooler, so there is more room for the fans to take air in if it's in an sli setup. Also, the twin frozr design is very efficient, with two 100mm fans that can be controlled independently, meaning it can be even quieter than it is OOB.

maybe try google or youtube.. BOTH WORKS.

I google problems before I buy a new card !!! (I bought msi 980 gaming) its quiet and no coil whine

Yeah well he also have seen plenty of reports of coil whine for MSI card, Gigabyte cards, etc... so its not just ASUS.

Some cards will have coil whine while other will not. It does not matter what GPU it is or from what brand it is, there is always a chance of getting a card with coil whine.

There is no more chance of getting coil whine from a strix 970 than from any other 970 on the market.

Thats what I said in the first sentence in my post.

The second sentence was for you who said "There are no 700 series reference coolers available"

Thats really weird. It doesnt show up when you search for 970s...

So you essentially restated what I stated in my first post?

And corrected you on the fact that 700 series reference coolers are available.

Strix will also hit temps faster in SLI with their fan!! and when both coolers spin at 100% I think MSI wins

anyway MSI and Strix are both passive in the most common games like lol/minecraft etc etc
