Actually, this only comes with a bundle. It says not available for individual sale. So I can't use this. Thanks anyways.

Most of the time if it doesn't launch with the reference style cooler, then the ones you find are only promotional items.

Yeah well he also have seen plenty of reports of coil whine for MSI card, Gigabyte cards, etc... so its not just ASUS.

Some cards will have coil whine while other will not. It does not matter what GPU it is or from what brand it is, there is always a chance of getting a card with coil whine.

There is no more chance of getting coil whine from a strix 970 than from any other 970 on the market.

but MSI have lowest RMA  rate on their Gaming Brand compared to Asus. Witch might actually mean less chance of coil whine.

so I disagree.

There is a thread about this on EVGA forums, with enough interest in reference blower I think they might consider it. At least that was what Jacob said. Kinda.

The ASUS strix is quieter.

I've had my eye on the ASUS Strix and the EVGA ACX 2.0 cooler. As for performance, cooling, and quietness, I'm sold on the Strix, but considering I have a windowed case, the cooler stands out like a sore thumb in my build while the acx cooler would look nice. So regarding aesthetics, is the acx cooler considerably louder? Or should I just completely disregard aesthetics and go for the Strix?

The ACX does look a lot more subtle then most GPUs. The problem is that their cooler is very loud compared to basically every other graphics card... I havent heard it IRL so im not sure if its tolerable or not, but if it was not I dont think they would be selling as many as they do. personally I really go for looks, but if youre looking for silence too then maybe look somewhere other than the ACX.

Yes I agree there is less chance, but that does not mean every ASUS card will have it. That also doesnt mean every MSI card will not have it. It all depends on how lucky one gets.

Strix will also hit temps faster in SLI with their fan!! and when both coolers spin at 100% I think MSI wins

anyway MSI and Strix are both passive in the most common games like lol/minecraft etc etc

The profile is set to 0 rpm up to 65C so yes it will get 15C hotter than an MSI card, in SLI or not.

After 65C both cards will reach the same maximum temps because their temp cap is at 80C.

The point is, the strix is quieter for longer then the MSI, but below 50C they are the same, and above 65C they are the same.

Silence isn't all that important as looks to me. But I'd like to have the best of both. I would like to know if the acx cooler is louder than the reference. If so, then I think I might consider just getting the cheapest 970 I can and smacking a waterblock on it. However, I'll just tolerate the sound if it's at least quieter than a reference cooler.

Edit: I will be overclocking.

It looks like it is:

Maybe buy any 970 and put a G10 on it?

Since you care about silence, I would go with any other 970 thats not from EVGA. Im fairly sure all other brands are quieter.
