Yep, the 3.0 x16 slot will run as 2.0 to have the gens identical

SLi minimum need at least PCI-E 2.0 x8 to run

 

any lower it will not work

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

okay, thanks. If I have two x16 lanes, will one get slower if i use 'em both at the same time?

what is the mobo you are using?

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

The 3.0 lane will go 2.0 but that is in no way a bottleneck since 2.0 x16 is not saturated yet by any single card

Minimum is x8 regardless of PCIe gen, as long as you have both cards running in at least an x8 slot and your board supports SLI they will run.

you are right

 

even Gen 1 at x8 x8 will work

 

but nobody will in the right mind install a modern GPU on a PCI-E 1.0 only board
