SLI Troubleshooting <3

Go to solution Solved by MegaDave91,

So 970 + 970 is the only one that works?

For SLI, yes.

Crossfire is different however.

You need another 970 for SLI compatibility.

Similar cards need to be used for SLI to work, and Crossfire as well - although to a lesser degree. Example: You need two 970s for SLI to work. In addition, they need to both have the same amount of VRAM(as of right now, this isn't a problem. I've only seen 4GB variants). However, they can be from two different companies and have two different coolers. This means you can pair a Gigabyte Gaming G1 970 with an ASUS equivalent and it would work perfectly fine.

I'd also like to add that you can use similar cards with differing amounts of VRAM if you use a mod called Coolbits. This enables you to reduce the amount of VRAM(in software)on one card to be in line with the other one, thereby enabling SLI functionality.
