I have been drooling over tech demos here and there has anyone heard any rumors about games in development using Unreal engine. The engine looks great.

Daylight, Fortnite, Heavy Gear Assault, Project Awakened, and a few others I believe. Those are the only games so far. Releases for all of them haven't been set but the engine looks really good and I hope alot more developers start taking advantage of the oculus features.

Yeah, no idea wtf he is doing.

 

On a slightly related note, I also wish they would remake Quake 1/2 with Quake 3 multiplayer on the newest ID engine. Rage blew, why are they wasting their time trying to make new games when they could just copy the old ones.

Sadly, both Quake 4 and UT 3 were complete sht, so there's not much hope for a proper shooter to come out for quite some time.

On the topic of quake one if you haven't already tried Darkplaces you need to check it out. The last few years I have been geeking out on old FPS ports. It looks quite good with HD texture pack Maybe I will post some screenies.

I would have to disagree with you UT3 was a fun twitch shooter and I thought Quake 4 was a great sequal to Quake 2. I not a very picky person though I hated what Blizzard did to Diablo 3 yet I max leveled 3 classes.

Considering the almost flawlessness of GoW cover based shooting I would disagree, but I never play UT so

gears of war is't even avaible on pc except gears of war 1

I tend not to care about what he thinks as long as the games good, maybe he will accept PC H Christ into his heart one day and be born anew. But ya never know! :o

People don't seem to understand engines.

 

They are the framework of code and tools on which to base your game, but if your art assets looks like ass (no pun intended) then your game is not going to look like much.

 

A new engine does not guarantee or even infer better visuals, it's what you do with the tools.

 

Granted, it does help, if it enables new graphics libraries and you make use of them in your game.
