How long until?

Hey guys, so I'm wondering how long it will be until pc gamers can play with console gamers and vise versa in one game? And if we can, why don't they do it more often? Like with the release of COD:AW, why can't console and pc gamers play it together? Thanks

It's not like it can't happen. But it's up to the devs if they wanna spend the money in implementing the extra code. The question is similar to asking "how long before PC skype users can skype with Xbox users?". Take a look at portal 2 co op. It's already been done. On a more relevant note, PC multiplayer would also be unfair to console multiplayer (especially with accuracy and aim assist being on different spectrums). That may be the deciding factor.

I don't think that's gonna happen any time soon. PC gamers would DESTROY their console counterparts which would lead to online (or IRL protests) and more abuse.

When a high enough demand persuades these larger companies to change their minds. If Microsoft doesn't fall apart, they could integrate XBox with PC gaming, since they have the power to do so, however they won't because they don't see the need.

I dont think crossplatform would work. We would have higher resolutions so be able to see more on screen at once giving us an unfair advantage + the whole controller issue (id say a mouse is more precise and quicker than a console controller)

You can use mouse and keyboard and monitor to your console. (I have seen ppl at lan bring their console)

yeah i know you can but then u still have the issues of your dpi, sensitivity and mouse acceleration and the PC's having better specs than the consoles and another thing where did u see people using keyboard and mouse on a console at and what lan event was this because i am 100% sure this is not aloud

Was allowed I was the admin. we had space up to 30ppl and when there was space left we allowed console users to come also  (sine we had a huge smartboard they could use) but they played on their own monitor. Until someone came with a football game!!

and many big lans in Denmark there is a hidden console corner !!
