If one has 4000$+ budget and just want to do hardcore gaming and multi tasking and have 2 gpus and care about futureproofness?

X99 if you need DDR4, more PCI-E lanes and a longer lifespan.

 

 

Z97 for people who can deal with only 2 GPUs and DDR3.

X99 for workstation needs such as rendering

Z97 for common sense and normal requirements

You have the $$, ddr4 and more cores are more futureproof.

If you have 4 Grand to drop on a rig it would be ridicules to put that money elsewhere.

x99 is better if you can really afford it but you might not need it what's the use case

5820K/mobo/2x4GB is only $200 more than 4790k/mobo/2x4GB, so if one were to spend $4000 on a PC he might as well get X99.
