100% cpu usage in browser

Go to solution Solved by Wtalk2,

Your CPU is probably just not able to handle playing back the source stream, even though your internet it good enough. I know on my Core 2 Duo laptop I can't play youtube videos in 1080P without maxing out the CPU usage. Just try playing the Twitch stream in High or Medium instead of Source and see if it helps.

so ive got a crappy HP pc for the time (until i get my new one) and im watching a twitch stream its lagging like hell, im watching on source wich is fine because my internet can handle it fine there is nothing else open and my cpu is pinned at 95%-100%

gelp?

I have flu and I read that as 100% cpu usage in the shower. Sayeth WHAAT!

Must be some background process, try different browsers.

The twitch player is literally the worst POS on the planet, that alone may very well be what is causing it if you're running an older laptop.

its an standart issue work pc and its saying flashplayerplugin_15_0_0_152.exe is using up to 90%

What's the PC model/CPU model? It's possible if you're using an older pentium/celeron

I have a Core2Duo and it can handle the stream on Chrome. Perhaps it's an antivirus programme scanning in the background? Try hitting ctrl+alt+esc and seeing if any programme is consuming over 10% of your CPU on average without the streaming or browser, and let us know. If it's not vital, terminate it, and this should help.

Also, what OS are you running? If you are running something like Windows XP/ Vista, try switching to Windows 7 or Linux which have lower system requirements/ better optimized. I know this may seem like a lot to do, but it worked for me a few years back.

Best of luck and I hope this helps! :)

It's too slow to play - there's nothing else wrong with it.

It's an old computer! Might be time to get a new one if you want more performance

Awesome build, though I'd suggest more than 2 cores :/ It's a personal choice but I feel that two cores going forward won't offer you the same performance as more....

personal choice, though, coming from someone who prefers to OC and have more cores for background tasks/multitasking.

Haha if you want a decent 4-core and care more for all-round performance, the Athlon X4 860K is a great choice, as is the FX 4300, allowing you to upgrade to an 8350 later on (8-core) if you want.

But they'll perform worse in games if that's your only intention.
