They're not stupid, they just don't know any better. You ask any person in a mall about a gaming PC and they'll likely say something like "Apple or Alienware" because it's the most expensive thing they can think of.

I was just saying what I thought the OP might have been getting at.

are you saying this isn't evil?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dHZvrY2iVmc

Yes and no.

So far this video has been mostly made up of "rumors", but on the note of the Chinese factory workers: That's not directly Apple, it's Foxconn's deal really, and also that's a typical probablem with a lot of factory jobs in China, so nothing new.

I am just saying the big companies are selling computers for a lot more what they should be worth.

Is that a claim or are we just spewing bullshit?

what are you saying apple invented something?   :o  :o  :o

Perish the thought. :D

The video you posted...ugh. You realize that Foxconn has a lower suicide rate than any of the 50 states, right? In a much smaller group?

Actually my school still uses Pentiums with ddr1 ram :(  :(  :(  :(  :(  :(

even my elementary school was better ( I miss the core2duo e8400 and their ddr3 ram) *sigh*.

You could honestly just get dell computers, with monitors and everything at the start of last year we got like a lot of money in grants for computers and we brought ipads/dell ultrabooks 2 imacs and 30 dell desktops with ivy i5's and 30 with i3's.

Thats a lot of money and I honestly think for the work we do in the lab it would save us billions of hours to just for with apple instead of our IT team having to try and fix them.

anyway...

What your institution decides to spend it's money on is it's own decision. If they frit it away in ways that (insert whoever grants them money) find inappropriate, those grants will cease to exist. for people pursuing a degree in Graphic design/web design, Mac has long been the industry standard. Having a well-rounded knowledge with both Windows and OSX (and ever increasingly - Linux) is something that's going to give you an edge in the job market.

I'm not sure how Alienware fits in here.

Actually i'm pretty sure that when talking about computer the plural of mouse is mouses.

Actually i'm pretty sure that when talking about computer the plural of mouse is mouses.

By grammatical definition, there is no defined term for this application of mouse. Most people, however have adopted the plural form of the rodent. :P

I'm pretty sure they were named after the rodent.

Actually...maybe not now that I think about it.

So far as I know, there was no correlation. It was just a term that stuck, so to speak, during it's conception.

Linus had said this a thousand times, it's not the value of production that decides what a product is priced, it's how much its worth to the customer. I have a macbook pro 13'' retina, and as much bad its specs are, the experience of using it is great from the display to performance (away from gaming of course). Apple controls the hardware and software, so they obviously can make more out of it, so they price it higher. About alienware, can't comment I never owned one.

It's really suck when school uses mac, almost all of the computer in my school is a mac and they always causing problem with my external HDD. I really don't know why they bought mac because my school is a film school, they teach us how to use Premiere Pro and AfterEffects on those thing and they're really F....king slow, you can't go more than 10 layers or it will take 10 minute to render a frame.

@Sandvich it is very ignorant to say that "Macs are overpriced" and the whole obsession with a "discrete graphics card"... oh boy... What do you expect your school to buy. Gaming machines??? Or maybe computers that will do everything you need them to do very well, are extremely power efficient, have excellent aftersales support and are reliable with minimal maintenance...

If you can give me a reason why your school's computers need insane graphics performance, then I may agree with you that this was not a good choice, but I really can't think of anything you guys would be doing on these machines that requires more than Iris Pro graphics (which are quite powerful and ridiculously power efficient).

Just my 2c...To me, this sounds like a hate post that is based on very minimal rational thought. And if you don't want this kind of reply, then don't start a topic like this...

Well, when it comes to picture editing and graphic design. Macs are the way to go. What do you want your school to do? But pc's with 32gb of ram and quadros.

I think you have just jumped onto the bandwagon, hating on apple, razer and like wise products.

Apple makes very nice products and of you actually look at them, yes they are overpriced but they arn't complete rip-offs like you are making them sound.

With razer products, I don't think they are overpriced at all, they make decent products (excluding their headsets) and I think they are worth every Penny.
