i will have i5 4690k, corsair h105, gtx 660, 8gb ram, 1tb hdd, led strip, and i will oc to 4.5ghz. What is the best psu and maybe in the future i will get the gtx 970.

The 660 uses 140 watts.  the 970, 145.

The CPU uses 88 watts stock.

Hard drives don't use more than 10.   The cooler uses less than 4.    LED's are miniscule.

Overhead and memory on the board, not much.  I'd overestimate at 40-50 watts.

You'd be fine with a 430/450 to 500 watt power supply.

650 watt will be more than enough. also, dont buy a 660. That would be a very bad investment right now.

Case: Phanteks Evolve X with ITX mount  cpu: Ryzen 3900X 4.35ghz all cores Motherboard: MSI X570 Unify gpu: EVGA 1070 SC  psu: Phanteks revolt x 1200W Memory: 64GB Kingston Hyper X oc'd to 3600mhz ssd: Sabrent Rocket 4.0 1TB ITX System CPU: 4670k  Motherboard: some cheap asus h87 Ram: 16gb corsair vengeance 1600mhz

what will be a good 650 watt psu?

there are plenty of good ones out there. I personally have a seasonic x650 gold fully modular psu and it has worked great for me. You could also get a 750 watt psu if you plan to run sli in the future

650 watts or 620 should be enough for your build But I wouldn't get a GTX 660 unless you buy it super cheap ( second hand)

Anything more than what your system uses would be okay.  If you really wanted to dig down to research what would work best for you, pick out the brand and model that interests you and then check on their website (or other online resources, such as reviewers) and see what the power supply's efficiency is at any particular load.   This is usually displayed in a line graph.

Calculate the total power consumption on all the rest of your parts (what I posted was accurate, but you might have left some other stuff out) and then make that number your target load when you're looking at efficiency ratings.

i think im getting the 650 g1

You could probably save some money by getting a lower wattage unit. 500 watts is way more than enough even if over clocking your i5 doubles how much power it consumes.

The only reason you might want a 650W unit is if you end up getting an AMD video card in the future.  For some reason those R9's consume a lot of power.

Still don't think you're gonna need a ton of wattage.

Corsair CX500M is semi modular, although if you need full-modularness, an EVGA Supernox NEX 650 watt will do you fine.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.
