A: Could I buy 2 sets of apple pro speakers and an isub, cut the wires, and hook them up to a 5.1 receiver?

B: What is a good 5.1 reveicer under 100$ used on ebay or my craigslist: http://rochester.craigslist.org/

Thanks

That sounds really ghetto, I guess it depends what the wiring is. If the Apple Pro speakers are 5.1 in theory it should work. But I'm not audio expert.

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

It would look cool with 1 of these P932279.jpg

and 5 of these prospeakers.JPG

Why do this when you could just buy a 5.1 speaker system like Z506?

A: Yes but it's not easy to do. Not worth the time imo. The wires are likely coated and you need to get that off by sanding it before it can be soldered or you need to use completely new wire and that would require taking the speakers apart and soldering a new wire on the speakers. You're going to need some type of wire, I usually use speaker wire, sleeving, multiple 3.5mm plugs, and a soldering iron and solder. In the end it's just not worth it since those speakers don't sound particularly good anyway. For sub $200 I usually just recommend a 2.0 system since all the 5.1s in that price range are bad.

Might as well spend that same amount of money on something that will actually impress you.

Like what?

Right now I'm using v-moda crossfade LP's and dell speakers I found on the curb

I would say look for some used bookshelf speakers around you and pick up a lepai 2020A+ amp with it. There are more good ones than bad so if you pick up something by Sony, JBL, Pioneer, Infinity, or a few other good brands, you won't be disappointed. For new equipment maybe Micca MB42 for a cheap option and Pioneer SP-BS22-LR for closer to $150 total.

I would kinda like something with a bass for when I'm gaming

The bigger 2.0 speakers like the ones I mentioned will have plenty of bass. Good subs are like at least $300 so it's not really possible in your budget. The Polk PSW110 is good if you just want boomy but it's not very good for music. If you want loud explosions then it's a good choice then.

OOT: I thought the coating will melt automatically when soldered? Never worked with coated wires before, so I honestly don't know.

No the solder will just slide right off the wires. If you do manage to get the solder on, it won't conduct because the coating is not conductive.
