Headphones for PC gaming. no mic required.

I have been looking for a set of high quality headphones. I see people reccomend the V-MODA M-100's but they seem a little small. I have been considering the popular Sennheiser HD598's. The BeyerDynamic DT-880 and DT-990's. Now I see the AKG Q701's are on sale for less than $200. - http://www.amazon.com/AKG-Signature-Reference-Class-Premium-Headphones/dp/B004444OFK/ref=sr_1_1?s=aht&ie=UTF8&qid=1414870737&sr=1-1

ATH-ANC70s are really good.

If you want to get a mic (because why not) I recommend the ATH-AG1 (and you want to shell out a bit more cash)

EDIT: I never read the post to good so I edited it to actually answer what you were asking.

Beyerdynamic custom one pro

It has bass ports so u can make it bassy for gaming and not too bassy for listening

Comes at $200-300 depending where u buy

I got mine for $130usd in a crazy promotion

These headphones are underrated

I have them and they are epic

“It would seem that Our Lord finds our desires not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.”

Little different, but consider the ATH TAD500. You can only buy them on ebay from Japan, but I believe they have the same drivers as their other high end open back headphones.

The tad500 are open back, great for gaems

The BeyerDynamic DT-880 and DT-990's are freaking awesome for music. But for games i would recommend something like the http://en-us.sennheiser.com/audio-headphones-high-end-hd-558 Because of their flat sound sound signature. Therefore bass wont drown footsteps.

DT880 is more flatter than HD598 in case you don't know

Debatable, but good to point out the flatness of the 880.

All are good choices, really.

They are all great headphones. However, i would go for the sennheiser because i believe they sound better out of the on-board sound card. Both AKGs and DT880 will require better amplification, but they will still sound great. If you are planning to get an amp then i would suggest you to pick the DT880 600/250 omhs if you like that sound signature (they are a bit bright headphones).
On the other hand, the HD598 have the best soundstage, so that could be good for video games.
Unfortunatelly i haven't tried any expensive AKG headphones, but i believe they worth it (this price is pretty normal though)
