Need a portable battery pack, suggestions?

dizmo

I'm looking for a portable battery bank, so that when I go on longer trips and such I won't have to worry about when I can charge my phone.

I've looked around online and there are tons of choices and I feel like I might be missing out on some hidden gems.

I have a few requirements, as follows.

* It must be pretty compact, the smaller the better, but I'll take a more flat and wide profile over a cube or gum stick style profile.

* It should support faster charging.

* Ideally I'd like 10,000mah+. I'll go as low as 8,000mah, if the price is right.

* Design wise I like metal. Or soft touch. No glossy plastics, and premium build is better than a really cheap price.

* Integrated cable would be a huge asset.

Anyone have any suggestions? Even better if you've used such products before, and have one you particularly like!

I'm currently considering the Luxa2 EnerG Slim, Morphie PowerStation XL, and Anker actually has a couple models I'm interested in.

The phone's currently a Nexus 5. Might be upped to a Droid Turbo, Nexus 6 or, if it's not too unwieldly, whichever device Oppo releases next.

Provided they have an App Drawer.

I usually recommend the Adata power banks since they are usually very good value and reputable in their products.

The large 10400mAh with metal finish is a really nice and should fit your needs, has dual charging with 2.1A and 1.0A simultaneously and all the proper battery and safety features integrated:

Thank you sir! That is about half the price of the Anker's I was looking at, and does have a nice finish.

I'll add it to my possibles list.

Xiaomi Mi Power Bank 10400mAh!

I'm waiting one myself... It's cheap, well designed and very good. Just be aware of fake ones! The real ones are the 23-25$ ones, and buy only from trusted sellers...

I second what @acolombo's said. I've got the Mi 10400mAh variant and it's using brushed aluminum and it works quite well. It's bare on the packaging, but it's from a reputable firm (Xiaomi, the guys who made the Mi smartphone), and it's surprisingly well constructed for what it's worth (15$ down here in India). It features overcurrent protection, 2Amp outputs, and according to the advertisements, it's got an efficiency of 85%. If you want, I can upload a few pics of it tonight.

I hope this helps! :)

Yes I'd vote for Xiaomi's power bank too. I have the 5200mAh version but it charges fast as well.

That one's definitely tempting, unfortunately like you said most of the ones I seem to be able to find are fake.

If you're okay to buy from China banggood.com is a trusted seller and also the best price out there. Also some sellers on AliExpress are okay, just look at the feedbacks / reviews...

Really?

Interesting. I'll go take a gander. Depending on their shipping fees I might pick one up this weekend.

I noticed someone selling them on Craigslist as well for almost twice what they charge on banggood.com (I wonder how long it'll be before they stop making such...hilarious names for things).

Might pick up 10 or 20.

Why is this in offtopic and not in general?

*shrug* happened to be the sub forum I was browsing when I wanted to ask the question.
