if your PSU doest have a PCIe power connector, then you can get a 750ti as it is powered directly from the motherboard

It's up to the board partners to add power connectors if they need to, so its possible that some factory overclocked 750 Ti's may need a PCIe power connector even though the reference card doesn't. Just make sure you're checking.

Adding an r9 series is wayy to overkill seriously , this board even uses gen 1 pci express

I would say max 650ti , anything else would be bottlenecking the gpu.
