Hi,

I rearranged my setup today, and found the old power adapter for my dad's external HDD. I thought I'd use it as it's the same connector as my USB hub. So, I plugged it in and my keyboard's LED's kept on flickering on and off, and ditto for my mouse. I also smelt a slight burning smell. I unplugged it, and plugged the keyboard and mouse into my PC directly, only to find they weren't even detected. I plugged them into my PS3,and the same happened. Have I just destroyed my keyboard and mouse?

The most common Harddrive adaptor is 12v. USB hubs most commonly use 5v adaptors.

None of your USB peripherals stood a chance.

PS: Always check voltage ratings on an adaptor before plugging stuff in. Having the same type of socket/connector guarantees nothing.

Luckily I didn't plug in anything else. I'm kinda glad I have to get rid of my keyboard and mouse, both are irritating *stares at Tesco and then at Razer*

How old is the keyboard could always try a rma might not work but sometimes they might just direct replacement without checking as its not cost effective.

You get a mini of 1 year warranty on all products worth the chance.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?
