There isn't much to it. You don't need to set up your BIOS for anything, unless you want to tinker with any overclocking, in which case you can probably find a video that uses the same, if not a  similar mobo to you (you're probs going to need to enable XMP profiles for your RAM, but that's it as far as I can tell). When it comes to Win8, just use the disk, or put it on a USB, boot from disk/USB, and let the setup run.

CPU- 4690k @4.5ghz / 1.3v    Mobo- Asus Maximus VI Gene   RAM- 12GB GSkill Assorted 1600mhz   GPU- ASUS GTX 760 DCUII-OC

Storage- 1TB 7200rpm WD Blue + Kingston SSDNow 240GB   PSU- Silverstone Strider ST75F-P

If you're using the H440 then you have no choice but to use USB booting.

This is easy my friend. Download the ISO you need to install Windows, extract it to a flash drive (USB 2 preferably) and plug it into your H440 or motherboard USB slots. The installation should go fine. If it doesn't automatically start installing, restart, boot into the BIOS (sometimes F10, F12) and set the USB media to be the first boot option.

Also, cuz I've done this sooo many times, MAKE SURE YOU REMOVE THE FLASH DRIVE AFTER THE INSTALLLLLLLLLL. I can't tell you how dumb I felt after I realized I had just been installing the same stuff over and over again for the last 2 hours....

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

I agree entirely with STRMfrmXMN, I would only add to the extract to USB comment, once you have downloaded the ISO of windows I would recommend using the software "windows 7 USB download tool" found here http://wudt.codeplex.com although it says windows 7 I have used it many time to install windows 8.1 and even windows 10.

Do you even open sidepanel and temporary DVD/CD drive bro?

Srs tho, USB is easier and better choice, but he does have a choice :P

Uhm... this is too old?

In BIOS you will only have to check that your drives are seen (connected right) and set USB to 1st boot device and SSD/HDD to 2nd. And remove all others from list.

If you want to do more, check that CPU temp is correct (cooler install) and set RAM to XMP if you are using more than 1600MHz. I have ton of other stuff what I will do but those aren't so important (like disable not needed devices, audio and iGPU).
