What can I do to get the best sound possible for my PC?

Title pretty much says it all. I've pretty much got my heart set on the ATH-M50X in Blue for all types of music and competitive gaming and a high end mic.

A good DAC would be the best idea, however try your onboard audio first and see if you're happy with it.

first get the headphones, (it doesnt require an amp) then see if you need any better

Also, I have to warn you that the ATH- M50/X are quite uncomfortable, as the clamping pressure is pretty high and the earpads touch my ear and annoy me. Also, they get hot. Otherwise, they're great

Are you new? Try having them stretch out over a cardboard box or something, for better comfort you can also put on these http://www.amazon.com/Beyerdynamic-EDT250V-Headphone-Pads-Black/dp/B0016MF7W2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1413937158&sr=8-1&keywords=EDT+250

(velour--> more breathable and softer).

If you want to put a mic on the m50s you could use a modmic 4.0, for a table mic you could use a blue snowball/Yeti
