Hello i'm shelby, i repair computers for family and friends and helped build my bros pc, i would love to build my own ultimate machine.

My current build is a single core intel CPU, 4 gb ddr2(i think) and a GeForce 210 1gb.

I am thinking of building an overkill pc after christmas, my plan is to put together;

  • Corsair 900d supertower
  • Asus Sabertooth 990fx r2.0
  • 32gb ddr3 ram (need some ideas here, make, speeds etc)
  • AMD FX 9590 Black Edition, PILEDRIVER, 8 Core
  • Two GPU's (need help) GeForce GTX 980? or 1 Titan?
  • Corsair H110 cooler or custom loop (not sure which yet)
  • Corsair 1200 or 1500 watt PSU
  • Numerous LEDs (wondering on colour)

I will be using this pc to do everything from solitaire to building games. My budget is around £2000 to £4000 which includes monitors, keyboard and mouse (wireless) and wireless headset. I am thinking about modding the case aswell to allow for a key ignition power switch due to having children about.

Would this cover what i want to do with it?

Which Names to use for parts?

Any ideas to help or make it better?

Where to buy parts? ( i have a local shop but they dont offer good advice and tend to push items onto you that aren't selling good)

Any help or any ideas you have to change would be appreciated. I am from the UK.

Thanks in advance.

(sorry if this is in wrong section)

1. do NOT go with a 900D unless you want to do custom loop cooling

2. do NOT do custom loop cooling unless you value looks 100X over performance/dollar

3. do NOT go with a AMD FX 9590 unless you find your room to be just too damn cold

4. do NOT go with a wireless mouse on a performance oriented machine

5. when you say building games... what sofware will you be using?

6. is the MAIN purpost of this machine gaming?

Load up your build in pcpatpicker.com - will help you find cheap prices.

At that budget... Why not an i7? Will outperform that FX chip in most items.

I always reccomend 1 single powerful card... but for an alla round system... maybe 2x 980 will be the best option.

1200W will be plenty. Overkill really.

You can get LED lighting strips on ebay, that are multi color remote control. Dirt cheap, and the same as you get from anywhere else, just with cheap packaging.

32GB of RAM is a waste of money ;)

About the key ignition, IDK.

Maybe go with Intel?

2 980sif it is for gaming, if you are rendering/editing, Titan

4790k. Blue themed build. Mechanical keyboard. Good gaming mouse (bugger wireless). Good gaming headset. G-Sync monitor. GTX 980. All in all this is good enough for you to use as is, or mod to your heart's content. In my experience people like to use plain cases to mod and make them exciting.
