Why is the Standard for 4k 3840x2160 but "real" or true 4k is 4096x2160?

because "4k" is 4x1080p in a 2x2 monitor setup.

1080p - 1080p

1080p - 1080p

which equals to 3840x2160.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 3700x / GPU: Asus Radeon RX 6750XT OC 12GB RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x16GB DDR4-3200

3840 x 2160 (at a 16:9, or 1.78:1 aspect ratio)

4096 x 2160 (at a 19:10 or 1.9:1 aspect ratio)

just all about aspect ratios. you would go very far with a monitor that was 19:10 :P

because 4k is 4x1080p

1080p - 1080p

1080p - 1080p

which equals to 3840x2160

Not quite correct 4k is determined by horizontal pixels at or above 4,000 (not 1080p x 4)

3840 is rounded up to 4k

so it's just because 1920+1920=3820 and 1080+1080=2160?
