Why do you want 32gb of RAM? What are you using the computer for?

I'd also go with a Z97 board, not a Z87.

You can get a 512gb SSD for the same price as that Velociraptor. If you want an HDD, honestly I'd just go with a Blue. Save yourself the $150.

Do you need to RAID the SSD's? You'll get comparable speeds if you buy the 500gb one, as well as save money.

I'm hoping this is not a troll...

You do not need to spend $4000 to get a good gaming PC. $2000 is more than enough...

i5 4690k

sabertooth Z97 motherboard

16GB ram

ONE 250 or 500GB 850 pro

seagate barracuda 2 or 3TB

EVGA G2 850W PSU

those are the changes I would make ^^^

Don't listen to the people who say 4790k is better for everything (I don't even know if I have the right to say that), get an i5-4690k if you're building a gaming pc, and yeah Z97 motherboard, and my suggestion for a monitor is the BenQ XL2720Z.

  1. Get a better motherboard

You don't need a 10000RPM HDD. If you seek better speed, set up 2 7200RPM drives in RAID 0.

Do you need two 980s?

Are you sure you want to run 4K?

Look into the reliability of the PSU brand.

Are you fucking kidding me?

4790K performs miles better, both in games and in benchmarks.

i7 is more "future proof" as more and more games are currently supporting hyperthreading technology.

With DX12 and Mantle just around the corner, the i7 is a better choice (if you have the money).

Judging that he does, he should get an i7.

I didn't include the futureproof part....

And to the author of the thread, here are the parts that I'm going to be putting together, except the GPU, display, optical drive and peripherals. People might say it's terrible, it probably is (hope not). I'm not even sure if those storage drives are the best for RAID 1 and RAID 0, I don't even know if you want/need RAID. If you don't, then......

So there are a lot of opinions, but basically I got that I should get a better mobo, the PSU is overkill, and I should reconsider the storage. If so, I might go with an 850w PSU, and z97 mobo. Suggestions?

you got the money.

with 4k bucks might aswell grab a caselab case which is just pure sex not only in looks but in build quality. I suggest the magnum sma8 my dream case which I can't get right now but probably next year hopefully in time for my new haswell e or whatever is next extreme build.

anyways on your build

change your hdd to a 7200rpm wd caviar black 2tb instead. single ssd around 400gb/500gb something of evo should suffice gives you less problem in the long run.

z97 motherboard and you're ready for some orgasm.

pretty much just changed the motherboard and all else should be similar to your build.
