Thoughts on Nexus 6

I think it's great for what it is; it's just not for me. I prefer phones around the 4.5"-4.7" range (My HTC One M7 really cuts it really close to what I'm comfortable with). It's definitely interesting with how high end they went with the phone.

 

The part that I'm the most interested in would be that Verizon is now supporting it. I always thought that they burned their bridge with Google with the Galaxy Nexus. Hopefully this means that Verizon will just leave it alone and not lock it down... and maybe allow the boot loader on the Verizon HTC One M7 to be unlocked... Just like all of the other M7's?

Dimension wise it is almost identical to the Note 4 and iPhone 6 Plus.

The Nexus uses onscreen buttons inplace of physical ones the others use.

It's a lot bigger than the Note 4. In every dimension. As you've proven yourself.

It's pretty obvious that at this size, the main goal of this Nexus is to encourage heavy cloud media consumption.  I'm really conflicted.  The 805 and the front facing speakers are really drawing me in, but can I really use such a big phone daily?  I've had a OPO in the house for a few days and seeing as how big phones basically excel at "sitting down and watching video" I've had this crazy thought of, if I'm going to use a big phone, I might as well use the biggest one.

I don't know what your definition of "a lot" is but I don't consider +5.8mm or +3.8% in height to be vastly larger.

It's over half a centimeter. It's a fair amount especially on an already large device. It's also almost 5mm wider. Other companies have managed to fit the same size screen into a smaller body, it's a shame they couldn't.

Too large for my small hands and my pockets (no, I don't wear skinny jeans). I'm keeping hold of my Nexus 5 for now. Android 5.0 Lollipop will give it a new lease of life to hold me over until the Snapdragon 810 phones start pouring in next year.
