How Much Will Performance Drop?

EarthboundHero
Go to solution Solved by miyabwah,

Yes it will.

So I did a benchmark of DiRT 3 in 1080P and 768P.

MSAA was 4X, and most settings were on high except for post processing.

My results were :

768P

Minimum : 70.07 FPS

Average : 82.30 FPS

1080P

Minimum : 102.60 FPS

Average : 120.27 FPS.

Which means : 70.07 ÷ 102.60 = 68.2943469785575%. That means that 1080P performance is 68.2943469785575% the performance of 768P, at MINIMUM framerates.

And for averages, 82.30 ÷ 120.27 = 68.42936725700507% That means that 1080P performance is 68.42936725700507% the performance of 768P, at AVERAGE framerates.

Keep in mind, this was one benchmark and I can do more if needed.

Right now I'm running at a resolution of 1360*768. In December I plan on upgrading to a 1080P monitor. I can play all my guys maxed, including AA with over 60 FPS. My specs are in my signature. How much will performance drop going to 1080P? Thanks.

If i did the math right, your resolution is about 50% as much as 1080p.

Your framerate won't be cut in half (maybe), but you will probably get 70% or more of what you're currently getting.

Do you think I can turn down AA and get better performance and not really notice it because of the higher resolution?
