Facing a dilemma...

I will just cut to the chase, my Radeon HD 6870 recently died by my own hand... I wasn't thinking and decided to work on the internals of my computer while standing on carpet. TLDR Cause of death: ESD. STUPIDSTUPIDSTIPIDAHAAAAAAAAAGGGGHHH

However, I don't know what to replace it with. For me, it has come down to 2 choices, wait for a GeForce GTX 970 to come into stock again (however short that time would be, since it's selling like GTA V right now), or get a Radeon R9 270X 4GB (which is currently going for 180-220 USD). Either way, it's still an upgrade for me. I don't care what brand I get, but I request that whatever cooler it comes with can survive in a low airflow situation (one 90ish millimeter exhaust fan that has enough trouble pushing air through the grill that it's mounted to, and the side panel is open. #DellSucks)

Why would your option be the 270x or the 970? The 290 is the 970s competition.

Power consumption* and heat output** mostly. Other than that, idk.

*: requiring no more than 2 x 6-pin connectors on stock clocks and/or lower binned cards

**: Previous card went up to 60 C just from web browsing, 75 C when gaming, the room heating up within an hour of gaming.

Last minute addition: Anyway, after doing some thinking, I'll get a 970. I'm considering either MSI or EVGA, Gigabyte would be an option if it wasn't for the aforementioned airflow restrictions. Let's also not forget this
