My current system cpu ram gpu

i5 4690k

8gm 1866 ram

r9 280x

i ran 2monitors only use 1 for gaming

now my question is i play alot of cpu heavy games guildwars 2,dayz,arma 3, bf4

on some of these games with voice chat up either TS or skype im hitting upwords of 85% cpu usage and BF4 hits up higher for some reason

so now the question

worth getting a i7

or upgrading to a 8core amd cpu with a AM3+ mobo and 8more gb of ram for the same price ?

keep in mind i only game i do some video stuff here and there

lol

upgrading to a 8core amd cpu

this is called downgrading not upgrading

BF4 is made to take advantage of up to 8 cores so yes a i7 would get you maybe 5-10 fps more.

Some games utilize more cores, but there aren't a lot of them. Eventually, you'll get bored of those games and move on to something else. So, i don't think it's worthwhile to upgrade for a few specific games.

have you done any overclocking yet? there is quite a bit of free performance to be gained if not.
