Alleged iPhone 6 Prototype has reached over $100k in Ebay bids

This is put in off-topic because this isn't really 'news'. Original article from Techcrunch.

 

So there is a live auction of an alleged iPhone 6 prototype being sold on Ebay and it's reached over $100,000 (USD) as of the time of this post.

 

 

This is one of those times that it's perfectly okay to say the grammatically incorrect statement, "I don't even.."

 

If this is a legit auction with real people bidding on this, I have a few thoughts about them.

 

• A] The people participating in the auction have more money than they know to do with to buy this thing and will just put this in a collection
   
• B] The people participating in the auction are too much of a fan[person] of Apple to pass up a potentially real prototype of an iPhone 6
   
• C] Could be a mix of both

 

I'm not one to judge someone based on their loyalty to a company - enough to buy an alleged prototype phone that may or may not even work properly - but there should be a line when it comes to things like this. We live in a world where even $5 will help someone in need very much, yet there are [supposedly] people in the world who can fork up $100k for a stupid phone that probably doesn't even work.

 

There's something wrong here, and this is another reason why I didn't put this in the tech news section: when someone has so much money that they know to do with (because giving to the needy is so overrated), therein lies arguably the biggest issue with today's society, selfishness.
