post-14318-0-49308300-1370292189.jpg

I bought a 660TI 3GB in October and lately it just hasn't been cutting it, I have been thinking about overclocking for a while but haven't gotten around to it, today I ran unigine heaven and 3dmark11 got some surprising results and seen that my GPU runs about 75c. So I was wondering if it is safe to overclock it when it reaches a tempt this high already, i'm only using its stock cooler.

You could try and overclock it using MSI Afterburner or EVGA Precision Tool. You just have to raise the core clok by 20-30MHz and then stability test with 3DMark 11 or Unigin Heavne/Vally on a loop. I dont think you can begin to raise voltages, because of Nvidias greenlight program.

Edit: 75 degress celsius is fine for a graphicscard

Yep, ive the stock cooler too! use MSI afterburner to set a custom fan curve ( you ll see its easy to do ) so that if the GPU reaches a certain temp, the fan will spin faster and the card wont pass that temp, its how ive set mine up!

I appreciate all the help, and this is what I did so far, is there anything else I can raise? I tried unigine heaven and got better FPS from what I could tell, and the temp only reached 65c because I enable automatic fan control.

So thanks for all the help, I was just wondering why after I used 3Dmark11 why didn't it say my core clock changed? I will have pictures down below of before and after I overclocked it. Also the test says my processor clock increased. SO if anyone has these answer please tell me, I would greatly appreciate it.

havent overclcoked a modern nvidia gpu but i think i can offer a tip

in afterburner get the fan speed control and slowly put it up 5% at a time untill you reach a noise level that you're comfortable with in while gaming in something like minecraft (not silent but not blaring music either), my gtx 285 is only audible at 55% it only gets annoying at 70%+, its only going to got hot when gaming remember.

go into afterburner and set a custom fan profile so that the very last notch is at 85*c (or whatever, this is the MAXIMUM temperature your comfortable with your card ever hitting even a year down the line when its filled with dust, for my gtx 285 this is set to 100% fan speed at 80*c-I hate hot cards.,

the next fan speed point down from that should be a mix of the fan speed you're comfortable of having a noise level at and a temperiture your comfortable at in games, for my gtx 285 its 70%@70*c
then use a slope down from there
i use 100%@80*C running furmark
70%@70*C gaming
40%@50*C watching movies
30%@40*c (idles at this)

once you've done this then start overclocking...
sorry i cant help otherwise, "+50" assumes you know the stock clocks...
