I am a new MC 1.8 server and I cannot find plugins anywhere for .exe servers. With bukkit currently being so broken I would really appreciate any help you can offer

The .jar version is vanilla.  It's just universal and a tad harder to set up!

The .exe is for the "get up and go"

You mean mods?

Use the .jar version with a bat script.

no no no!

i have 3 years of hosting a MC server under my belt and my friend has even longer.

Any server you download from minecraft.net will NOT work with plugins...

i know bukkit is derpped, use spigot or another type of minecraft java based server. http://www.spigotmc.org/

whaaaaattttttttt.... dang, well atm i guess your out of luck for 1.8 bukkit. You can do what hypixle has done and get 1.7.8 and mod it to accept 1.7 and 1.8 clients.

haha i would but i acually dont know how to mod them, my friend might, i think he did it at one point. Actually, now that i think of it. 1.7.10 accepts 1.8 clients i think... however i dont think there is a craftbukkit 1.7.10 released

To clarify this, you cannot add Bukkit mods to a vanilla Minecraft server. Only Bukkit supports Bukkit plugins, and the server must be the correct version for the client. Sometimes older plugins do work with newer Bukkit versions, but I really don't recommend this, I've broken things this way. As for mods, they are mostly clientside and serverside, but there are some that are only clientside, such as Reis Minimap. I suppose that there could be plugins for the serverside that use a mod loader like MCForge, but I don't know of these specifically, some searching could probably find them or you could post on the MC forum. This may be something like what you're looking for, but I don't know anything about it:

http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/minecraft-mods/1287664-forge-forgeessentials-bukkit-functionality-for

I haven't looked at servers in a while, but I downloaded Bukkit 1.6.4 recently. 1.6.4 is the latest recommended Bukkit server and they have a Beta 1.7.9 server, but neither of these will work with 1.8:

http://dl.bukkit.org/

I also found this page, which is a little concerning:

http://dl.bukkit.org/downloads/craftbukkit/

I hope this clears up your initial question, but it may have created more questions than it answered (I know it did for me). Best of luck :)

Um.. maybe not plugins, buts "mods" will work. You install them in a similar way to how you would client side. Install Forge, for example, and you will have access to a tons of mods that work server side.

I think you've spent too much time with bukkit and failed to realize that the default minecraft server was still moddable, just as it always was, if only slightly limited in comparaison. The minecraft forum Mods section lists what the mods run on SP or MP in the title generally, some might not say it but if it says "server download" in the topic, then you can be sure that it works for the default minecraft server.j

I think servers like Tekkit and Attack Of The B-Team work like that, heavily modded vanilla server that you can download on their sites. Though I believe you need to have them installed client side as well... Could be wrong.

Using big letters doesn't make it true.  Check your facts before saying someone is wrong. Mods can be client and server side.  Mods =/= plugins, can be two separate things, depends what situation you refer to.
