Microfibre cloth to clean PC?

StorAxis

So I performed a full PC clean today, do it every 3 months usually. I always buy a can of compressed air whenever cleaning it out because I know it's the safest method. However, it's pretty ineffective at cleaning flat smooth surfaces (HDD's, bottom of case etc.), so I'm wondering if it's safe to clean it with a microfibre cloth, because I'm not sure if it creates static electricity which I obviously want to avoid.

Thanks.

I think I would be alright. I usually do it with my PC and I haven't had any problems with static build up. If you really are worried though you could always use a grounding strip on your wrist. If they help with building a PC and reducing static electricity, then there should be no problem using it while cleaning.

I don't get it....how do you just....buy a whole ready made computer?

Thanks for letting me know, sounds like I finally need to get my hands on one of those grounding strips!

Hahaha yeah they do come in handy from time to time. The way I look at it though, as long as you aren't purposely shuffling your feet around on the carpet during a lightning storm building a computer, you should be fine. Just to be safe though, i would use one. Happy computing!
