Cpu help

Go to solution Solved by FuzzyYellow,

mostly gaming (pretty much all upcoming big releases) and some basic photo editing on photoshop

then you are better off going with the 4790(k). Xeons aren't quite as good for gaming because they generally have lower clock speeds. games generally value faster cores over more cores, although this is starting to change a little bit. Its not a huge difference, but you will notice it. :)

The 4690k is the closes i5 to the 4790k. But if you need the extra threads of the 4790k, buy a xeon 1231v3 for the price of the 4690k but with the 8 threads of the 4790k.

Multi threaded applications such as photo and video editors will benefit from the extra threads of an i7 over an i5. Most games, however, can only use four threads, at least for now.

I've built 3 PC's, but none for myself... In fact, I'm using an iMac that my dad bought for me as my desktop. Awkward...

Please don't say "SSD drive." By doing so, you are literally saying "Solid State Drive Drive" and causing my brain cells to commit suicide. The same applies to HDD (Hard Disk Drive) and PCIe (Peripheral Component Interconnect Express).

I had Core i7 4790k and its works good in games as well as in multitasking !!

If you have budget to get core i7 4790k then go for it !!

My Cpu usage never go more than 35% while gaming i think if you gonna do some video editing etc then it is the best choice or you can go for i5 4690k if you only game on it !!
