There's not much to learn. You just point and click.......

to do many basic tasks, you need to learn how to use the terminal

if you install straight up debian without a desktop environment, you need to know how to use the terminal to set that up to get the familiar look of most OS's

Just download and install Ubuntu. That OS doesn't make you use the command line if you don't want to. It's not that hard, really. No need for a guide.

As far as command line goes: it's there if you need it.

I cannot be held responsible for any bad advice given.

I've no idea why the world is afraid of 3D-printed guns when clearly 3D-printed crossbows would be more practical for now.

My rig: The StealthRay. Plans for a newer, better version of its mufflers are already being made.

my main aim of using linux is to get rid of my the desktop....If I want a desktop I can just continue using windows

fair enough, any reason why you would want to get rid of the desktop?

It's good for servers to reduce load but other than that i can't think of a reason to

Best way to learn to use Linux is to just install it on a virtual machine. VirtualBox is free and open source, install that and download Ubuntu and go from there. This is how I personally picked up how to use Linux. You can Google how to do particular things as well, and the virtual machine will give you the freedom to mess around without any risk.
