Is this a good time to buy a GTX780?

Mofu

Hi all,

I have a build (see below) with a Gitabyte GTX 780 Ghz Edition in it, and since the 970 just hit the market, I am thinking that now might be the time for me to go SLI with the 780. I've seen the price drop quite a bit lately. Below is the price changes in my country:

What do you guys think? Is it the right time or should I wait just a bit longer?

That graph is way skewed. It dropped 400krones or whatever. Get a 970.

If you already have a 780, get another.

He already has a 780.. Getting a second 780 would be much better then getting a 970. >logic.

Nvidia is discontinuing the GTX 780 and GTX 780 ti.. Plus the GTX 970 is cheaper. Get it.

Since you already have GTX 780 tho.. Any chance you're still eligible for the step up program?

Whichever is cheaper is probably the best to get, but I will say you did put this in troubleshooting, which is the wrong section. This should really be in the GPU or planned build section.

If you already have one 780, then grab another yes, but if you don't, the 970 is probably the better choice as it is in production unlike the 780, which has been discontinued.

the 970 costs just as much as a 780 down here, actually the 970 is wee bit more expensive if you don't want a reference design. Not including evga because i totally don't trust them after all the crap i have been reading, it's not just the cooler placement but it's all the complaints about electrical noise.

as for the op, it really depends on what you need/want, not all people need the performance of two 780's, some are more than happy with just one, but if you are going to get a second 780, this is the time, possibly wait and see if prices drop further, although you are certainly not the only one thinking of doing this.

Thank you so much for your answer.

Thinking about I already have a nice 780 which is only about 3 months old, and that I absolutely wouldn't mind the power of 2x 780, I think this is what I'll do. I hope my 850w PSU can handle it!

I saw a 780 today for ~ $300 US. I don't know how much that is in your currency, but that equated to about a $200 drop for me, which is pretty good!
