Best video/movie making software?

I'm looking into starting to record gameplay and edit different videos into one with music or audio. Is there anything good that's free? (Or nearly free?) On windows, using Nvidia Shadowplay.

I've heard that Blender - the 3D modeling software- can also serve as a pretty decent video editor.

The guy in the video is using it on a Mac, but it's available for all operating systems.

If you can get over the learning curve, Lightworks is a pretty powerful free* video editing program.

 

*It's free without codecs, but if you need things such as H.264 import/export then you'll need to pay a subscription for those features.

I use Adobe Creative suite (Premiere Pro, AfterEffects), but it's quite expensive if you are not making money out of it. Sony Vegas is a lot cheaper and equipped with similar features.

Adobe Creative Cloud‎ is properly the best out there. It's perfect for advanced video editing for cheap(monthly basis). Sony vegas is also really good and less advanced.

Adobe Premiere Pro Elements 12 is less than $100.
