not sure why a micro mobo for x99 but good choice of case and psu.

why not. if only one gpu there is NO difference and he might like the case.

3 biggest reasons to do x99:

more cores - up to 8

more ram - up to 128

and more PCIE Lanes.

He's got 1/3 just saying.

Im hoping for ram exspansion in the future. I know 16 and 32GB DDR4 dimms will be released soon. So effectively giving me enough space for 64 or 128gb of ram in just 4 dimms. If Im not taking advantage of the extra PCIE lanes should i just opt for the 5820k?

still can go for 64gb ram which should be enough for atleast couple of years at the top.

Exactly! 64GB will be plenty and DDR4 will only improve as time goes on

yea but due to there only being 4 dimm slots on a matx mobo he'd have to replace his current 32gb config as opposed to simply adding more.

I havent Purchased the Ram yet.. Or any of the internal components. So going directly for a 64GB kit will be the plan

Just ordered some Darkside Rads from dazmode and a dual D5 bay res. the top mount is a dual 120mm at 27mm thin and a fun density of 20fpi. The front mount is a dual 120mm at 65mm thick and a fun Density of 12fpi. Im patiently awaiting the hydro copper 980. looks like I'll be going for asrocks x99m killer mobo as well. Can beat tht on board sound, 12 phase pwm, and killer e2200 chip. The evga x99 micro has had some bad wrap when powering over clocked chips. Disappointed a little. Anyways pics will be up early next week!

Alrighty Guys/Gals!,

My water cooling hardware has arrived. Now before you guys look at the pics I just wanted to make a shout out to Daz from DAZMODE. After 10-12 emails back and forth he was more than happy to suggest blocks, give me product information and split up my payment to accommodate me. The order was placed by me at 11:00 am on Tuesday October 7th and I received the package on October 8th at roughly 12:00pm. I chose the cheapest shipping option and it made it here in 24hrs!!

One more thing I noticed on Daz' Darkside Rads was his no nonsense approach to the quality of his product. He put everything you need and nothing you don't making the price of his product by far the BEST in the biz.

Just an update,

Still waiting to purchase my hardware. Prices haven't budged since release and as far as motherboard options I'm still limited in the X99M-Atx segment. Gigabyte has plans to release a Gaming 5 X99MATX board but I want to see if Asus will have a ROG offering. Also DDR4 is still incredibly scarce at this point, but good news is both kingston and crucial have released 16GB dimms allowing me to stuff 64GB into 4 slots :D...

My impressions: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/268576-gigabyte-x99m-gaming-5-first-impressions/

I'm still hoping for a Rampage V Gene but don't hold your breathe, there are no plans for one yet.

Thanks for the info man.. How do you feel it compares to the AsRock X99m Killer? That board has been getting same crazy good reviews

Eh, it's got its issues. Main thing is the BIOS seems a bit buggy, but I think that's true of all the X99 boards right now.

Main thing for me was the x8 on the bottom slot, otherwise I'd probably go for the ASRock.
