Hello.

So I was thinking about getting the 980, but i'm not quite sure.

Currently I have the 780, but when i upgrade, the 780 will be going to my brother, who currently got a 650ti.

Will there be a 980ti like the 780ti, or have there been no rumors of that? If yes, I'm gonna wait for that. :-)

A 970 performs a bit better than the 780, the 980 performs a bit better than a 780ti. Do you use a 1440 monitor?

I think there will be a higher level 900 series card, I dont know if they will call it a 980ti or something else, but I do believe there will be something to beat up on AMD again after they release their 300's.

Isen't AMD about to reveal a secret or something? Could it be new cards?

Yep. Last I heard they were going to talk about it on the 25th. I havent heard if its CPU's or GPU's though.

if anything i'd think it will be the 990 that will be released because the there are no locked cores in the 980

Its very possible. Personally I think it will be a single GPU card based on the same chip as the new titans will use, (GM210?) with a few locked cores and/or a bit less VRAM.

But that is pure speculation.

I think the question of worth upgrading is whether or not you're happy with what you have. If you can already play the games you want, on the settings you want, then no, not worth the upgrade.

If there's some game out at the moment you can't get a satisfying experience with, then consider the upgrade

What would they even do for the 980Ti? The 980 is already fully enabled so the 980Ti would bring nothing except increased clock speeds (which you can do by OC'ing). They only way they would beat what AMD brings (Assuming AMD's new GPU's beat the GM204) is make either a new Maxwell chip with more cores (GM210) or make a GK210/204 and I doubt they can do that so easily on the short term.

Why not get to 780s as they drop in price? One for you to run SLI and one for your brother.

Because for the price of two 780's he can give his current 780 to his brother and buy two 970's to SLI, and get better performance.

Im on Mini itx, so i cant SLI :-)

But I think I'll be going for the 980. Doubt it too, that they will make a 980ti, when the 980 is already fully unlocked.
