I'm currently running my 4670k on Asrock z87 Extreme4 at 4.3Ghz with my cpu core voltage set at 1.190 with 0.005 offset, 1.195v with my LLC set at level 1. I think it is a reasonably good voltage to be at for 4.3Ghz and I've test run it for up to 5 hours+ of prime95 small FFTs few weeks back and it has been stable so far with 6-10 hours of daily usage. Oh and the Temps running prime95 are averaging about 75C and below.

Alright, so the problem comes when I try to get it to run at 4.4Ghz or more, at 4.4Ghz, I have to increase the voltage by a significant amount, at ~1.238v to be stable and the temperature is reaching as high as 92C on my H100i.

My current setup:

Mobo: Asrock Z87 Extreme4

CPU:  i5 4670k

CPU coolers: Corsair H100i

RAM: 2x4GB Corsair Vengeance LP 1600

          2x4GB Kingston HyperX Fury 1600

          both RAM oc-ed to 1866 @ 10-10-10-30

PSU: Corsair RM750

GPU: Gigabyte Windforce R9 280x (ver 2.0)

Case: CM Storm Scout II

Any help or suggestion would be appreciated as it still troubles me that it can run as low as 1.195v at 4.3Ghz but any higher than 4.3 it needs so much more voltage. Or any explanation on this issue would also be appreciated  :D  :D

That's just how CPUs work. There is a point of diminishing return, and that seems to be 4.3GHz for your chip.

i had this cpu and mine was the same got to 4.3 and any more i had to up the voltage by loads, also had a H105 and the temps were at 90-94 when stress testing had to back it off to 4.2 =( just got unlucky i guess

Oh btw do you guys think upgrading my mobo could make any difference to it? I've been planning to upgrade to a Asus Maximus VII Hero, really liked the look of it and currently going for the red themed color scheme  :P Have been wondering if a better mobo makes any difference to my oc limits

No it won't help at all. I had MSI Z87 G45 gaming on which I managed to brick my BIOS so I got Gigabyte Z87X-UD4H which is a LOT better board and I am getting the same OC.

Make sure you check the OEM website for your mobo and update your UEFI before you start over clocking. I was running an older BIOS from last year and just updated yesterday and I was able to move my cpu from 4.2 to 4.4ghz which I was never able to do without super high voltage and high temps.
