Is the AMD FX-8320E worth it?

Yatin

Is there a significant difference between the power consumption of the 8320 and the 8320E?

What about load?

Identical to 8320 normal boost clocks on each are same... only base clocks are different...  but getting Fx 8 cores to max loads difficult unless folding or rendering... games usually don't use 8 cores...

^This and no game uses 8 cores so actual load will vary, that being said while gaming AMD based systems have higher power consumption even when using the same number of cores as an intel based system. You shouldn't really be worried about it though, using AMD instead of Intel/Nvidia will only add a few bucks a year to your power costs and that's only if you use your system A LOT. Most peoples power bills fluctuate enough that the extra juice needed for heavy use of an AMD system isn't noticeable.

About a 20 something percent decrease in TDP.

The significance is only gonna come to a few bucks a year.

that's TDP, not power consumption. Yes, there is a significant difference, but I don't really think the difference is worth the performance hit. Also, the 8320 is an overclocker's chip, so tdp is kind of irrelevant.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

if you have 8320, its pointless to downgrade to 8320E. If you're after efficiency, you're with a wrong brand alltogether :)

yes, but you will end up overclocking it anyway when you realise just how slow it is you will want a 140W FX 5.0ghz like we all did...the 8320E is just an undervolted and underclocked FX-8320. Get an intel i5 unless you are doing only rendering, encoding and editing...that's where the value of the FX is.
