Refurbished parts

Are they worth it basically? i would rather have brand new of course, but if i could save a few $$ for other parts that would be great

Depends what the parts are. 

 

A case, an air cooler (Hyper 212), fans (if they spin), Ram (more than likely) are all perfectly fine to use with no risks.

An AIO is one of the last things I would buy refurbished.

I think i would be a little reluctant on a refurb case also, scratches and stuff. Especially on that window.

I kinda figured about the AIO's, but had to ask

Wouldn't get a refurbished mobo, gpu or of course HDD.

What do we think about SSD's? I know at one point Linus showed he was running 4 refurbished SSD's in RAID....however he recommended against it.

personally i would just buy new due to my paranoia but thats just me.

if you'll look any manufacturer refurbished parts are diminished in warranty coverage.

certain parts can skirt on those warranties, but usually not electrical.

 

refurb'd AIO would be a deffo PASS.

HDD should be clear, they have a limited lifetime.

Mobo and Gpu because you just don't know how long they have been in use.

well, refurbished doesn't mean used indefinitely, just means it was broken and fixed. DOA'ed, fixed, and then re-stocked and in that sense it could be new, but I get what you're saying

I'm probably the cheapest person you'll meet and buy so many things refurbished it's unhealthy, though I've yet to have any real substantial issues.

The plus side of refurb items is that they've been tested, so you know they'll at least work on arrival

My mobo was an open box, my h100i was refurbished. Both were absolutely bulletproof.

From personal experience I wouldn't buy refurbished mainboard, I got refurbished Sabertooth x58 after RMA, it dies within 3 month of usage.

i bought a lot of openbox stuff (yes motherboards too) i gave them pain a whole day on prime 95 and stressing the gpu too they run fine a year later ,but i would not buy anything refurbished that needs power
