As the title says, I'm having a dilemma deciding. I know it's personal preference but it would be nice to hear opinions and how people use it. I'm pretty much bending towards the 1st option.

Discuss.

I have owned a phablet for a year or something (Samsung Galaxy Note 1) and I was really disappointed. The thing was just too big. I now own an iPhone 5 and might get an iPad soon.

I have an ASUS Fonepad (which is a 7" tablet with a built in phone) and I love it. It's not pocket friendly so you have to carry a bag everywhere but it's a small price to pay :P

I use phone+tablet, I think a phablet for me is to big, it needs to fit in my pocket. When im travellng my phone is big enough for me. And most of the time I've my laptop with me for school or work, so I can always use that one if needed.

I use my tablet at home when I'm sitting on my couch and don't want to sit behind my desk for some basic internet browsing,YouTube watching and reading emails.

I have a surface pro 2 and I'm waiting for the Note 4 to come out since I liked the Note 2 and Note 3 (despite never actually owning one), so really I'm a phablet + tablet person - although it is a bit different what with the Surface Pros running x86 Windows 8.1 rather than a mobile OS since that produces another level of differentiation (no civ 5 on an iPad). I suppose the phablet for me is a tablet replacement and the surface pro 2 is a laptop replacement. One is a phone that I also use as most people would use a tablet, the other is a tablet that I also use as most people would use a laptop. It's not really as simple as "phablet vs tablet + phone". Not for me anyway.

I'm just not a fan of small phones; I find them to be utterly useless for everything beyond calls and texts, and if that's all they can do sensibly why bother having a smartphone? At least with a large phone/phablet you have the screen size to conceivably multi-task (OS permitting, I'm looking at you Apple) or watch video without straining your eyes. Moreover I keep my phone in the inside pocket of a blazer or jacket rather than in trousers so the size is less of an issue.

I'm not a fan of ARM tablets either though - they run the exact same OS designed for phones, but then don't actually work as phones. In that sense they're just big phones with reduced functionality. Why bother?

In a sense therefore I don't like 2 out of 3 of the options presented. This dislike of small phones and ARM tablets alike is what has led me to owning a Surface Pro 2 and wanting a Note 4.

I personally don't like having two different devices because what I'm doing doesn't sync between them as well as I'd like it to. Something like the Asus Padfone would solve this though, so that's likely what I'll be getting as soon as the damn things support AWS

Thanks all the replies, continue to send your input nevertheless.

My reasoning for a small phone+ tablet is that im small with small hands+pockets. I dont want to bring a bag with me everywhere i go, but its good to have all the funcionality(even if on a smaller screen) for "emergency" occasions. My main usage for the phone itself is messaging, forums(tapatalk), reddit, music and tumblr/instagram when im really bored, so as you can see i dont necessarily need a big real estate, but why i was thinking of going for phablet , is the occasional web browsing and youtube.

If you like having just on device to complete all your daily needs the I would say get a phablet. If you are like me, then you want a phablet and a tablet. A phablet as a smaller tablet with internet everywhere, and a bigger tablet for at home stuff. Phablets are kinda complicated because they are so large that you can't put them in your pockets. I would say get a phablet if you wear cargo shorts a lot or if you are a woman with a purse or a business man with a briefcase.

well being a woman isnt something that i need to worry about :D also im not keen on adapting my clothing for a phone, just the whole idea sounds silly... Also why i mainly asked for the whole phone+tablet vs phablet is bc the usage i was thinking about is on the go, so having 2 things that i cant fit in my pocket defeats the point. But nonetheless thanks for your input, im always interested in hearing how people use their tech gadgets.
