Corsair vs SuperFlower

Hi,

They are both pretty much the same price...

I've got a 1000w PSU from Corsair in my machine now, it's now 6 and 1/2 years old and still doing it's job, but it's time for a complete system re-build.

In the left corner in Black and Orange we have the

Corsair RM Series RM 1000 '80+ Gold' 1000W Power Supply (CP-9020062-UK)

and in the right corner in Black and White we have the

SuperFlower Leadex Platinum 1000W Fully Modular "80 Plus Platinum" Power Supply - Black

Reading the reviews, I'm leaning towards the SuperFlower, but I know corsair and have one which has served me faithfully for a very long time. But then I read this http://www.overclock.net/t/1455892/why-you-might-not-want-to-buy-a-corsair-rm-psu

What PSU would you buy / recommend?

ha. hahahaha. Basically what helping said. Putting the RM up against the Leadex Platinum was cruel. Not sure if the RM will ever be able to fight again.

Superflower is practically the only other manufacturer that can stand up to SS.

They're roughly equal.

While each may have its pro and cons, the Delta-build Antec HCP Platinum, Superflower build EVGA Supernova P2 (Leadex), Flextronics build Corsair AXi, and Seasonic XP2/XP3 designs are among one of the best PSUs currently on the market in considering build quality, electrical performance, and design.

I feel like quan289 will be mad at me if I don't mention delta electronics. They're pretty much king of the power supplies right now, but they don't have much of a presence in the consumer market. Delta, Etasis, Enhance, Zippy, Flextronics and others are big names in the industrial/server market. Seasonic is probably the best consumer grade manufacturer. The performance of their high end units usually beats Superflowers best. Superflower is kicking some ass with their Leadex lineups though.

lol quan even beat me to posting this.

I'm actually wondering why SS is better? Hardware.info shows the 1200 P2 doing so much better than the SS1200XP3 in terms of ripple, so does TPU/JG.

What about pulling 1300W on a 850W?

I've read somewhere a cooler master extreme power plus thing, CM just took the 400W version and changed the sticker with 460w written on it >.> It was shutting off at 430w because they forgot to change the OCP settings lol.

@Faa I was making a post on some JonnyGuru forum thread a while back. It took so long to look up all the reviews it logged me out and deleted the post before I post it unfortunately. Still, I was looking through JG reviews for 0.1% or 0% regulation, the reason being OW was considering investing in better equipment to get that third decimal place as it may soon be necessary. Well, I found a good 7 or 8 Seasonic units that achieved such low Vreg, and I believe only 1 Superflower unit did. Struck me as a good example of why Seasonic is regarded as better. Superflower is an exciting newcomer, but Seasonic still runs circles around them.

I'd buy an evga 1000w g2. Its pretty much the same as the super flower psu and has a 10 year warranty. Its cheaper than the super flower too since it's on sale on the site you linked.

Superflower all day everyday vs a RM series psu. The RM's are not great, just average. The 1000W is a Chicony unit BTW, not CWT. If you need to compare use the AXi series from Corsair.

Sir William of Orange: Corsair 230T - Rebel Orange, 4690K, GA-97X SOC, 16gb Dom Plats 1866C9,  2 MX100 256gb, Seagate 2tb Desktop, EVGA Supernova 750-G2, Be Quiet! Dark Rock 3, DK 9008 keyboard, Pioneer BR drive. Yeah, on board graphics - deal with it!

The 750w and 850w are Chicony. The 450-650w (modified PUQ-G) and 1000w (modified CSH) are CWT.

You're right. That's a change. And they've discontinued two units already in the series.
