Hi,

I am planning to upgrade my pc, but I don't know which decision I should make. I have a Core i5 4690K, Asus M7H, Corsair H105, GTX 760 (full specs in profile)

Should I get an X99 motherboard (X99 Deluxe or ROG) with a Core Extreme 5820k,

or should I get 2 x Asus Matrix GTX 780Tis in SLI

or should I get a Core i7 4790K and 1 Matrix GTX 780Ti.

Thanks.

CPU+Cooler: Intel Core i5 4690K @ 4.5GHz + Corsair H105 (Getting custom loop soon)  GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 970 SC  RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB  Motherboard: Asus Maximus VII Hero  PSU: Corsair AX860i  Case: Corsair Graphite 760T Black

UNless you do something that demands heaps of cores you are fine on the CPU for quite a while. The GPU only needs an upgrade if the games you play are demanding. Otherwise there is absolutely no need to upgrade.

well, I do play graphically intensive games (Watch Dogs, BF4, and GTA V in the future etc. etc.) which would be the best choice? I only really do gaming and youtube.

Then you do not need an I7 or X99-platform at all. The only thing that might need an upgrade is the GPU but even that is not really necessary if you turn down the dials a bit. If you do not want to turn down the dials then I would suggest getting a Sapphire R9 290 Tri-x or EVGA ACX SC GTX 780

meh, i want to game in 4K soon so i really need "balls to the wall" parts. that's why im thinking of 2 mammoths of a 780ti.

Gaming in 4K is not worth it at all really. You need dual 780 Ti/R9 290X at least to run it properly and you cannot max out still with that.

not really interested in graphics tbh, and futureproofing is a good thing too.

You're better off with 2x 290x's.

lol, no. never going with AMD ever again with the issues that I have had in the past with their products.

Might I ask what Issues?

issue 1: I bought a "Quad core" CPU which wasn't a true quad core and a horrible overclocker. only got .2GHz increase.

issue 2: long time ago (2009) I bought a laptop with an AMD cpu and I had to be a laptop cooling fan (like Linus' PSA) to cool it down just for web browsing. Appaling.

issue 3: I had bought a Radeon 7870 and it was flickering, had no power consumption monitor, and again, a horrible overclocker.

never going with AMD again. I've had issues with every product i've bought with them.

Issue 1: Be a bit more specific on the "quad core" thing. Also just because it's a horrible overclocker does not mean AMD sucks. You just had bad luck in the silicon lottery

Issue 2: You know AMD CPU's have higher TDP values and you still buy a laptop with an AMD CPU? Sorry, that's not to blame on AMD but on you. ALso it should not overheat from web browsing, the cooling there was obviously faulty, again not to blame on AMD

Issue 3: Again, overclocking badly is just luck of the draw and you lost. I have a 7870xt right now and it works like a charm so you just have some bad luck.

How does it not make sense... Nvidia is not even affiliated with Intel so why would that make sense as opposed to AMD/Intel not making sense?

1. AMD FX xxxx CPUs have half the amount of physical cores than what is advertised.

1. That's not how they work. It's 2 cores per module which works differently but they actually have 8 physical cores.

2. Again you knew that before buying the laptop so that's your fault.

3. That's luck of the draw. CPU's and graphics card are not specifically made with overclocking in mind (Except for things like the 5960x). You lost the draw, deal with it, that's not AMD's fault

2, I didn't really know about AMD at that time so I decided to give it a go.

2. Then it's you not being informed enough, again not AMD's fault.

You complain about the same thing over and over and I tell you why (bad luck, can happen) and you still complain about it despite it being luck related. That to me shows a complete lack of interest in what I posted and a lack of tolerance.

Also I already told you, if you're gaming then there is absolutely no need to upgrade whatsoever. The 4690k can hold out until skylake where DDR4 will also be on consumer chipsets.

You're not reading. The underlying insinuation is ofcourse neither of those options. The upgrade is completely wasted money if you only youtube and game.
