i had an idea while watching the WAN show for how apple could have made a better zoom function than their odd nob design

(MSpaint skills)

the green band is where the touch screen ends

and the red band is a touch sensitive area that has nothing to do with the touchscreen (smoother material) (edit: i mean the bezel)

dragging your finger clockwise would zoom out

and dragging it anti-clockwise would zoom in

Surprised Apple didn't think of this. iPods had a touch sensitive wheel.

The stone cannot know why the chisel cleaves it; the iron cannot know why the fire scorches it. When thy life is cleft and scorched, when death and despair leap at thee, beat not thy breast and curse thy evil fate, but thank the Builder for the trials that shape thee.

I like it. Alternatively it could be similar to a tachymeter some watches have with a physical wheel that you rotate. That would also make it more watch like.

To be honest anything is better than the monstrosisty that is the Apple Watch. The thing is hideous to begin with.

Rather than having a portion of the screen why not use the bezels like what Samsung did in some of their monitors? Capacitive touch controls on bezels...

Ah.. I misinterpreted... It's definitely a good idea... Way better than the 'crown' on the Apple watch imo...

Add 2-finger gesture control for added functionality...
