Hello, I'm wondering if I should be getting the ASUS X99-Deluxe or ASUS X99 WS.

I intend to use the Computer for Colourwork, 3D Modelling and Rendering, and somewhat of Video Editing. I'll be running at least a Quadro K4000.

I'd also like some comments on my choice of CPU.

CPU: i7-5820k

Well, the Deluxe is just more feature-filled, and the WS is just rock-solid and still, not compromising on important features. They're both outstanding motherboards, so just pick the cheaper one or the one that looks nicer, etc.

The 5820K is now a great choice, since it now has 6 cores, compared to the older 4820K and 3820K which had only 4 cores, which is going to help you in 3D Modelling and Rendering quite a lot (knowing from my own experience in Cinema 4D).

How about the CPU? The fact that the 5820K can only run up to 28 PCIe lanes kinda irks me but then all I really need is a Quadro on 16x, and a if I ran an additional GPU on 8x I'd still have enough for a PCIe SSD. Or should I just grt 5930K to utlise a second GPU to its fullest?

I see, if I were to have a need for fast data transfer to a NAS, would that affect the choice? This is assuming I don't get a dedicated Expansion card to serve that purpose.

Isn't NAS connected through ethernet? Both boards have dual gigabit ethernet so you are g2g with both of them.I'd personally go with the deluxe.

As for the pci-e lanes,i believe that a pcie SSD needs x8 so 28 lanes would not be enough for a quadro x16 and another gpu x8 +the SSD.
