how I know this, my buddy bought an alienware witht he so called 8990 but its just a stock 7990

8990 is a better binned 7990. Its available from OEM's and Ebay.

what about it is better?? I don't know because it preforms the same as a 7990 on stock cooler  and even has the 7990 stock cooler

huh, still sounds like a jet engine is running even though you have a noise cancelling case and noise cancelling headphones on.... from my experiences..

Doesn't surprise me it ran hot.

Yup it is a OEM card but better binned/Quality!

To be honest with you guys it's not that loud , well not to me at least and my max temp running the whole 3DMark demo was 65c!

I love this card and for the price it got it for it makes me one happy AMD owner!

Not to sure, I would say yes as most bench marks and games like higher memory clocks on GPU's

That means that your CPU overclock isn't stable. And therefore if you wanted to go for breaking records your score wouldn't count because only approved measurements are accpeted for the HoF ;).

But don't worry I'll add this anyways in the sheet. I'd only bitch if this was highend stuff :) .

If only I had the balls to do 1.35v constant on these refrence coolers I could really improve my scores across the board.

Well Vlad does go up to 1.425V on his GTX980 classies with Kingpin´s LN2 BIOS... but that is not a good plan IMHO. Without a full waterblock and a large rad or using LN2 I personally skip this madness. Even if that means I won´t have the fastest PC anymore. But I want to be able to resell my cards and buy the next highend stuff.

More important to me would be selling my board and CPU...

Yeah that would be something I would do with the cards on dual 480 rads alone with some TEC's all on its own loop. But I'm waiting for next Titan and the K|NGP|N 980's

I am going to buy the Titan... in all reality the GTX980 Kingpin comes too late for me. With the next highend chip it will be worth to go back to my 9x120 radiator. Same with the classified. If you throw money like crazy now on that cards you will get eaten alive when the Titan comes out.

K|NGP|N's look really nice this time around so I might pick at least 1 up for display in my room on my desk in place of this R9 280, but Titans are defiantly gonna be in my next system build this year,

The next Titan is, if the specs are true with 3072 Maxwell Cuda, a brutal monster, that will outrun a GTX980 by far. The question for me is now, am I going to extreme and build a 4way SLI watercooled for benchmarking or should I rather keep it reasonable and go for a nice 2way SLI. I will also have to change at least the mainboard, about the CPU I´m not entirely sure if I´d benefit much from a 8 Core CPU...

BTW I cracked 10000 in FireStrike ULTRA I can´t believe I was able to do that on air lol :D . This is as much as many people have in FireStrike with their system ;) .

Well the thing is I managed to get 10201 points now in 3D Mark ULTRA with my 980s. These are no special cards no Classifieds or Galax HoF or Kingpins. Reference Design and 1 STRIX and the STRIX is the weakest of all three in terms of OCing. With an air setup I manage to be in the top ten in HoF ULTRA with 3 GPUs, I´d say I know how to overclock ;) .

If the GM200 comes with the same OC potential then you won´t need LN2 phases and 3 8pin power connectors to break records. I´ll put watercooling on them mod the BIOS for them brutally and that´ll do the trick.

But let´s not forget you will have to throw between 7000-8500 USD in the game to get all X99 parts and 4 GPUs including water cooling parts ;) . For that kind of money you should be able to see some nice and kick ass performance!

That´s a good board though, I am thinking about either this or getting an Asus Rampage V. But still I´m concerned about the CPU performance. Many 5960X can´t go beyond 4.5GHz and this is a downgrade for me because my 5930K manages stable 4.7GHz.

I don´t know if the 5960X would be better though...

And Here is the CPU I will be getting with the lowest voltage choices possible, the moment that it is available from them I'm buying it. Defiantly worth it for a 8-Core CPU that can do 4.7Ghz and near stock voltage.
