Is there anything that I don't need or can be replaced by a cheaper version? Any and all help would be appreciated.

If anyone could suggest why I might not need a CPU cooler or if getting a case that comes with a PSU for like $70 would not be a good idea?
I don't require an SSD, I don't think it is necessary.

1. Budget & Location

$1200 AUD

2. Aim
For gaming mostly, could be used for adobe applications such as Photoshop/After Effects/In Design mainly.

Windows 7.

5. Why are you upgrading?
Upgrading because at the moment I only have a $500 laptop I bought in retail 2 years ago and I want to go into PC Gaming.

whats your usage for this pc?

if its for gaming then i say it's an alright build. personally recommend to go for the i5 4690 (non K) and wait for the 900 series graphics card to come out. or, wait till that gets released and buy a GTX 780, as i'm assuming the prices will go down.

"Sulit" (adj.) something that is worth it

Go with Intel CPU not AMD.

Wait on the graphics card, new series of cards launching in a few weeks/a month or two. Definitely get an SSD at some point because it gives you a massive speedup in your system overall. Also, best to go with 1600hz RAM, that's the standard these days (I think, not sure if 1333 would be detrimental)

I posted a similar build I'm planning in my own thread asking for recommendations. Nobody has even viewed it yet..... so I assume it's perfect, right?

anyways, here's my suggestions for yours:

CPU: Your first choice was fine for gaming. If you're going to get into after-effects? Well sure, push that further

CPU Cooler: You're right, do this later. It's more of a luxury item when you don't have an unlocked CPU. Do it if noise becomes an issue.

GPU: For this budget you should be hovering around the 280/760 IMO, so you're on the money. Which side you go is purely personal prefference

MoBo: I'm not a huge fan of AsRock and you can get better featured boards from someone like Asus for less. Like the H97 Plus for eg

Storage: I'd seriously look at getting an SSD in there for your budget. Even a 128GB one for boot and a few apps

Optical: One of the things I'd look at culling so I could fit an SSD in there

RAM/Case/PSU: Fine

Fools think they know everything, experts know they know nothing
